• Researching Advanced Solutions in Mental Healthcare

A division of the UCLA Gambling Studies Program

About Us

The UGSP Behavioral Technologies Laboratory (UBTL) is a collective of researchers, clinicians, designers, and software engineers that focus on mobile and web solutions in mental healthcare.  Our goals are to apply new technologies in the field of mental healthcare with the intention to improve patient outcomes.

We incorporate decades of experience from our clinical psychologists and psychiatrists in order to develop the most efficient mental health solutions possible.   From this pool of experience and information, we translate traditional therapies into digital forms for administration through mobile and web devices.

Our Research Method

Finding the best methods

We pore through the latest research as well as leverage the practical experience of our clinicians to derive the best practices for mental health therapies

Integrate and iterate

After compiling lists of effective therapies, our development team brainstorms the different ways to bring those therapies to life on new platforms

Deployment and Testing

When we have full solution, we rigorously test it among patients and clinicians to ensure efficacy and reliability. Randomized controlled trials are implemented, when possible, to validate novel platforms.
